Leaking seams and corners
Sectional gutters leak at joints and corners as sealant ages. We reseal and reinforce them or, on gutters with many failed joints, recommend seamless replacement.
Sagging and pulling away
Gutters sag when hangers loosen, fasteners rust out or the fascia behind them is soft. We reset the pitch, install new hangers and address any rotted fascia so the repair holds.
Clogs and standing water
Leaves, seed pods and roof granules clog gutters and downspouts. Standing water adds weight, encourages plant growth and can lead to overflow. We clear the blockage and correct the slope so water drains.
Downspout problems
Damaged, disconnected or clogged downspouts dump water at the foundation. We repair or replace them and add extensions or splash blocks so water discharges away from the house. Our recent work shows old stained downspouts dumping water against the wall replaced with new downspouts that discharge cleanly.
Storm damage
Fallen limbs and hail dent and bend gutters. Damaged sections can often be replaced without redoing the whole run. See storm damage roofing.
Signs you need gutter repair now
- Water spilling over the front edge in moderate rain
- Water streaks or stains on siding or fascia
- Peeling paint on the fascia or soffit

Repair or replace?

Keeping gutters from clogging again
If the same gutters clog every season, gutter guards can reduce how often you need to clean them. They are not maintenance-free, but they change a chore you do several times a year into an occasional check.
What a proper gutter repair looks like
- Cleaning out debris and checking the flow before deciding on a fix
- Removing old sealant and resealing with a high-quality gutter sealant, not a quick smear over the top
- Replacing loose spikes with hidden hangers or screws into solid fascia
- Resetting the pitch so water flows to the downspout
- Repairing or replacing damaged sections, end caps and corners
- Checking the downspouts and their discharge
Why gutters fail
Most gutter problems trace back to a few causes: debris that holds water, fasteners that loosen as the wood behind them softens, seams that fail as sealant ages, and downspouts that are too few or too small. Fix the cause, not only the symptom, or the same gutter will be back in a season or two.
Common problems we see, and how we fix them
Leaking seams and end caps
Sealant fails over time. We clean, reseal and reinforce, or replace the section.
Sagging gutter runs
Loose fasteners and heavy debris. We re-hang with new hangers and reset the pitch.
Gutters pulling away from the fascia
Rotted fascia or spikes that have backed out. We repair the fascia and re-secure the gutter.
Clogs and standing water
Leaves, seed pods and roof grit block flow. We clear and correct slope, and recommend guards if it keeps happening.
Blocked or disconnected downspouts
Water dumps at the foundation or backs up. We clear, reconnect or replace them.
Dents and storm damage
Limbs and hail bend gutters. We replace damaged sections.
Overflow at inside corners and valleys
Concentrated roof water overwhelms the corner. Bigger downspouts or added outlets help.
